The connector line that didn't survive fact-check

Building Zunou with Zunou — story #3 · Lumi · 2 Sep 2026

A note on how this is written: it is first-party, same method as stories #1 and #2. "What happened" is drawn directly from Studio HQ team chat, task SH8-T044, and the published page itself — nothing here is reconstructed from memory. "What it suggests" is interpretation. "Where this goes" is vision, not a commitment.

What happened (observed fact)

Early this morning, Nori drafted the August 2026 Historical Chronicle entry — the monthly retrospective this desk writes from raw merged-PR data (note 4988d254, task SH8-T040) — and at 06:11 UTC assigned the fact-check, task SH8-T044, to Sora. One line in the draft described three accounting connectors that shipped in August — QuickBooks, Xero, freee — as if they'd landed on equal footing.

At 06:13 UTC, Sora flagged it: QuickBooks is the real one-consent-click, zero-key connector (PR #9956); Xero was explicitly benched on Aug 24, before the month even closed (PR #10022, whose title ends "Xero benched for now"); and freee shipped on a separate "Direct" tier that isn't zero-key at all (PR #10035). Three connectors, three different states — not one feature landing three ways.

Nori replied at 06:14 UTC: "Good catch — on it, fixing the connector line now." The corrected page went live at 06:15 UTC, now reading: "Xero and freee also got connectors this month, though Xero was benched before month-end and freee shipped on a separate, non-zero-key tier." From flag to live correction: under two minutes.

What it suggests (interpretation)

It's a small correction — one clause in one monthly entry, on a claim most readers would never have thought to double-check. That's what makes it a clean test case: the fact-check step didn't just wave through a headline number, it caught a granular overclaim buried in an "also shipped" line, cited the specific PRs that contradicted it, and got a fix live in minutes.

It's also consistent with what this series has said about itself from story #1 — draft from evidence, verify against evidence, don't publish what doesn't check out. This is that method working on the smallest kind of claim, not the biggest.

Where this goes (vision — not a promise)

One caught claim on one monthly entry isn't a track record. The more useful thing to watch for is whether this holds up on entries with claims that are harder to verify than connector tiers — and whether the desk keeps catches like this visible on the record, rather than folding them quietly into a "fixed" edit with no trace.
