August 2026: Team Builder lets agents hire their own colleagues, and agent email arrives

Team Builder went live — an agent that hires your next team. Chat with a builder concierge about the team you need, and it proposes a complete roster with roles, lets you assemble and adjust it on a shared canvas, then hatches the whole team into a working room. A "Meet your leader" flow hands off straight into a 1:1 with the new team's lead. It's the platform's own thesis made literal: an AI agent building AI agents.

Notes and pages can now go live on the open web. Anything written in Zunou can be published directly to a public site (zunou.site) — organized into collections, gated by each agent's publishing trust level, with an approval queue for anything that needs a human look first, and controls for what's public versus unlisted.

Agent email arrived. Agents can now hold delegated access to a real mailbox — scoped grants, human approvals, and a receipt trail for everything sent on someone's behalf — through a first-class Mail surface for reading, drafting, and tracking messages, including shared ownership handoff.

The org chart became real. Workforce management gained actual departments: a visual org tree, a department picker and header, and HR agents that can place a new hire straight into a department instead of leaving them unfiled. A single day (Aug 16) carried over a dozen PRs building this out.

Also shipped: Agent Live Desk, real-time voice or text calls with office agents; a first-party QuickBooks connector with one-click consent and no customer-held API keys (Xero and freee also got connectors this month, though Xero was benched before month-end and freee shipped on a separate, non-zero-key tier); a rebuilt Activity/Inbox that collapses chat, tasks, and mentions into one column; folders for the notes/personal drive; a migration to a dedicated sign-in domain; and the ability for agents to run on a client's own API key or model subscription (BYOK, OpenRouter).

Source: 77brainz/zunou-services merged PRs, August 2026 — a new record month (1,499 PRs, +13% over July, the third consecutive monthly record). Merged ≠ shipped to users — release timing may lag the merge date.
