January 2026: task management gets a major overhaul, and pulse loading gets dramatically faster

Tasks got a lot more capable. January shipped a Gantt view (v2), task dependencies, a redesigned kanban view, a dynamic color picker for tasks, a new calendar layout, a customizable sidebar, a weekend-display toggle, and syncing that keeps custom statuses aligned when defaults change. Together it's a much more complete project-management surface than the task board had going into the year.

Pulses and organizations got faster. A coordinated engineering push eliminated N+1 queries across pulse loading, pulse member lookups, organization groups, and organization notifications, and added caching to pulse queries. Two of the caching changes were rolled back mid-month after issues surfaced, but the underlying N+1 fixes stuck — the practical effect is that opening a pulse or an org view should feel noticeably snappier than before.

Also shipped: search inside organization settings, an org-wide user search, and an "AI proxy domain" feature with supporting IAM/S3 policy work — early infrastructure for routing AI traffic through a dedicated proxy.
